Uninstalling the AOL® software removes all screen names and settings associated with it. Your Filing Cabinet files will be automatically stored on the desktop in a Saved on AOL folder.
A. Uninstall the AOL software in Windows Vista
1. Close the AOL software.
2. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
3. Click the Programs icon, and then click the Programs and Features link.
Extra: If using Classic View, click the Programs and Features icon.
4. If you do not wish to keep downloaded files or Filing Cabinet files for the versions of the AOL software you are uninstalling, uncheck the
Downloaded files and
Filing Cabinet files boxes. Select
America Online, and then click
Uninstall/Change.
Note: If AOL Uninstaller (Choose which Products to Remove) or AOL Uninstaller appears in the list, skip to Uninstall the AOL software with the AOL Uninstaller.
5. When prompted by the
User Account Control message, click
Continue.
6. Select the versions of the AOL software you wish to remove, and then click
Next.
7. Click
Next to start uninstallation.
8. Click
Finish.
9. If prompted to restart the computer, click
OK.

Uninstall the AOL software using the AOL Uninstaller
1. Click
AOL Uninstaller (Choose which Products to Remove), and then click
Uninstall/Change.
2. When prompted by the
User Account Control message, click
Continue.
3. Click
Yes to search for all versions of the AOL software installed on the computer. If you are not prompted with the
AOL Uninstaller window, click the
Search for Other Versions of AOL link.
4. Select the versions of the AOL software you wish to remove, and then click
Uninstall.
5. Click
Yes to start uninstallation.
Note: If you do not wish to keep personal data and settings for the versions of the AOL software you are uninstalling, uncheck the Personal Data and Settings box.
6. If prompted to restart the computer, click
OK.

B. Uninstall the AOL software in Windows XP/2000/Me/98
1. Open the Windows
Control Panel.
- If using Windows XP, click Start, and then click Control Panel.
- If using Windows 2000/98/Me, click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the
Add or Remove Programs or
Add/Remove Programs icon.
3. If you do not wish to keep downloaded files or Filing Cabinet files for the versions of the AOL software you are uninstalling, uncheck the
Downloaded files and
Filing Cabinet files boxes. Select
America Online, and then click
Change/Remove.
Note: If AOL Uninstaller (Choose which Products to Remove) or AOL Uninstaller appears in the list, skip to Uninstall the AOL software with the AOL Uninstaller.
4. Select the versions of the AOL software you wish to remove, and then click
Next.
5. Click
Next to start the uninstallation.

Uninstall the AOL software using the AOL Uninstaller
1. Click
AOL Uninstaller (Choose which Products to Remove) to highlight it, and then click
Change/Remove or
Add/Remove.

Yes to search for all versions of the AOL software installed on the computer. If you are not prompted with the
AOL Uninstaller window, click the
Search for Other Versions of AOL link.
3. Select the versions of the AOL software you wish to remove, and then click
Uninstall.
4. Click
Yes to start uninstallation.
