The AOL® Toolbar adds pop-up blocking functionality to your Internet Explorer software. When you need pop-ups allowed for Web browsing, you can turn off the Pop-Up Blocker or customize the Pop-up Blocker controls to allow pop-ups from certain sites.

Note: The Pop-up Blocker in the AOL® Toolbar software is a different piece of software that has slightly different behaviors than the AOL® Pop-up Controls in the AOL® software. The Pop-up Blocker settings in the AOL software are applied individually to each screen name on the account. Pop-up settings within the AOL Toolbar software will apply to any Website that is accessed using the Internet Explorer software.

Turn the AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker Off

To turn the AOL® Toolbar Pop-up Blocker off:
On the Internet Explorer window, on the AOL Toolbar, click the Blocking Pop-ups icon, then click Turn Pop-up Controls Off.

Note: The Pop-Up Blocker icon will display a green light symbol over a white window icon to indicate that you have enabled pop-ups on all Websites.

Turn the AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker On

To turn the AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker on:
On the Internet Explorer window, on the AOL Toolbar, click the Blocking Pop-ups icon, then click Turn Pop-up Controls Off.

Note: The Pop-Up Blocker icon will display a red circle with slash symbol over a white window icon to indicate that all your Web pop-ups will be blocked. It will also provide a counter that indicates the number of Web pop-ups the AOL Toolbar has blocked to date.

Allow Pop-ups from a Specific Website

You can also customize the AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker settings to allow pop-ups from specific sites that you are currently visiting.

To allow pop-ups from a specific Website:
On the Internet Explorer window, on the AOL Toolbar, click the Blocking Pop-ups icon, then click Allow Pop-up from <Website name>.

Note: The Pop-Up Blocker icon will display a green light symbol over a yellow window icon to indicate that you have allowed Web pop-ups to display on the current Website that you are viewing.

Block Pop-ups from a Specific Website

You can also customize the AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker settings to block pop-ups from specific sites that you are currently visiting.

To block pop-ups from a specific Website:
On the Internet Explorer window, on the AOL Toolbar, click the Blocking Pop-ups icon, then click Block Pop-ups from <Website name>.

Note: The Pop-Up Blocker icon will display a red circle with slash symbol over a white window icon to indicate that you have blocked Web pop-ups to display on the current Website that you are viewing.

Customize Your AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker

You can manually adjust the settings for you AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker to allow pop-ups from specific sites.

To customize your AOL Toolbar Pop-up Blocker:
1. On the Internet Explorer window, on the AOL Toolbar, click the Blocking Pop-ups or Allowing Pop-ups icon, then click Set Pop-up Controls Preferences.
2. Under Web Pop-ups, choose the Allow Web pop-ups from these sites: option by clicking it.
3. In the Allow Web pop-ups from these sites: box, type the Website address from which you want to allow pop-ups.
4. Click the Add button.
5. Click the Save button.

Note: To remove a Website from the list, in the large box, click the Website address you want to remove to highlight it, then click the Remove button.
